Christmas Bedding: Duvet Cover Sets

Christmas duvet setsI love decorating my entire house for Christmas!  I enjoy spreading the holiday spirit by adding something to each room in our home.  For the bedrooms, I enjoy using Christmas Duvet cover sets!  There are some really pretty styles and options that are not too expensive.  Since I only leave them on the beds for a month or so, I really don’t want to pay a lot for the temporary bedding.  However, these sets cost less than a lot of decorations and they certainly make a big impact on every room.

The Difference Between a Duvet Cover & a Bedspread

Duvets are different than bedspreads.  A duvet cover is simply that.  A cover or casing for the actual duvet.  Duvets themselves are normally white and sewn in sections that are stuffed with something “plush” like goose down or a fiberfill that is hypoallergenic.  Each of the featured sets below include the duvet cover.  You would need to purchase the actual duvet comforter separately if you do not already have one.

The bedding sets featured in this article are all duvet sets.

Santa Duvet Sets

Santa Claus is a favorite for most people during the holidays.  Of course, kids love the Santa bedding and many adults enjoy the fantasy during the holidays too.  While large image patterns might be too overpowering for the rest of the year, they are actually totally appropriate for Santa at Christmas.

Here are a few Santa duvet sets that are available.  We most often find them in red, the traditional Christmas color, but I really like that blue set!  It looks more like Santa with the nighttime sky for the background.  They all include gift packages in the artwork.  3 of them include the sleigh and / or reindeer on them, but the Christmas tree is simply stunning.  It would be really pretty in a room that didn’t have any other Christmas decor.

What is Included in a Christmas Bedding Set

Be sure to check the individual listings to confirm exactly what is included with each duvet set.  Most include the duvet cover, two pillow shams and sometimes sheets.  On rare occasions, they may even include a matching throw pillow.  The throw pillows could be used in a chair instead of on the bed.  Sometimes you can purchase a throw pillow separately if desired.

When the sets include the sheets, I tend to start using the sheets earlier, sometime around black Friday.  Then I add the duvet a few weeks before Christmas itself.  Of course, that depends on how close Black Friday falls on each particular year before Christmas.

The Winter Scene Duvet Set

For my own bedroom, I tend to prefer something a bit more elegant and mature.  This winter scene is perfect for an adult bedroom and still carries the holiday theme so we get something special in our bedroom for Christmas too.  Because it is a winter scene, I can actually use it past New Years, even through the month of January.  I do tend to start slowing down after the holidays.  I’m always excited to get the decorations out, but not always hyper to get them put away for another year.

The duvet cover on the right does feature a Christmas tree, so I would be less inclined to leave it on my bed past New Year’s Eve, but the Winter Scene below could certainly stay out for months.

Christmas Animal Duvet Sets

Santa isn’t the only option for kids, children love animals too!  You may not wish to use Santa decorations at Christmas.  Or, you may just want something other than St. Nick, but you still want to decorate your child’s bedroom with special holiday decor.  Kitty cats, penguins, and puppy dogs are always favorites.  These animals with their red hats look quite ready to celebrate Christmas with you and your child.

Okay, let’s be completely honest!  Some adults even prefer the animals for their own bedrooms.

Red Duvet Cover Set with Christmas Throw Pillows

Last, but by no means least, sometimes we just prefer elegant instead of abundance.  We may not want the covers with huge images.  Then, I recommend sticking with the basic red duvet cover and adding Christmas throw pillows.  Throw pillows are easy to remove, or to simply turn over when the holidays are past.  It really is a wonderful way to still include Christmas decor in your bedroom without having a complete makeover.

The “Merry Christmas” pillow shown below is only one of many options.  If you click on the picture of that pillow, you will see a variety of additional Christmas throw pillows.

I love the cute Christmas prints on the duvet covers, but my style is more the gorgeous solid dark red with a couple of classy Christmas pillows. Since we’ll have a little one joining our family in the coming year, chances are very good that I’ll go with a print in the coming years, one that will take my guest room from “bah humbug” to a hearty Christmas “ho ho ho!”
